macOS Sierra (10.12)

eDrawings 2019 SP5 is the last release to support macOS® Sierra (10.12).

Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, 64-Bit Operating System

SOLIDWORKS 2020 SP5 is the last release to support the Microsoft Windows® 7 Operating System. SOLIDWORKS 2021 products will not install on Windows 7.

Microsoft Windows 7 mainstream support ended January 13, 2015. By exception, SOLIDWORKS 2018-2020 support is extending into Microsoft’s Extended Support period, which ends on January 14, 2020. These requirements apply to all SOLIDWORKS products.

Installation

Antivirus Software

Some antivirus software prevents proper installation of SOLIDWORKS. For additional information, see Antivirus.

Functionality

OBJ Files

You can open .obj files in eDrawings. Limited functionality is available with these files.

Printing

Fixed an issue where printing with the Entire sheet option cut off a portion of the image on the lower and right edges.

Service Pack 5.0

There are no service pack 5.0 specific items at this time.

Service Pack 4.0

Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality (VR) is not supported for virtual environments (hypervisors).

Service Pack 3.0

macOS

eDrawings supports the following:
  • macOS® 10.14 Mojave
  • macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Microsoft Office 2019

Microsoft Office 2019 is supported in eDrawings 2019 SP2 and later.

Spell Check

Spell check works for comments and descriptions in markups. The rules for the spell check follow Microsoft Office® rules.

Virtual Reality

To use VR in eDrawings Professional, you need:

If using a mobile workstation, connect to a power adapter. VR may use more power than required in non-VR mode.

For optimal performance, use SOLIDWORKS 2019 materials. If you do not have SOLIDWORKS 2019 installed or have an older version of SOLIDWORKS installed, follow the steps below.

To use SOLIDWORKS 2019 materials:

  1. Download and install the materials at http://www.solidworks.com/plugins/edrawings/download.cfm?Release=LATEST&Type=MAT.
  2. In eDrawings Professional, click Tools > Options > Import.
  3. Under SolidWorks Materials Folder, click Browse and navigate to the location where you installed the materials in step 1.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Restart eDrawings Professional.

Service Pack 1.0

Virtual Reality

VR is supported in eDrawings Professional as beta functionality on computers with Microsoft Windows 10 and later. With HTC Vive devices, you can walk around the model and pick up components for closer investigation. You can also place the model in sky and floor environments.

To enable VR:

  1. Close eDrawings.
  2. From the Windows Start menu, type env and press Enter.
  3. In the System Properties dialog box, click Environment Variables.
  4. In the Environment Variables dialog box, under User variables for user, click New.
  5. In the New User Variable dialog box, for:
    • Variable name, type ED_RS_ENABLE_VR.
    • Variable value, type true.
  6. Click OK three times.

This is a one-time setup.

To access VR:

  1. In eDrawings Professional, click File > Open in VR (Beta).
  2. In the dialog box, open a part or assembly.
