Specifying Option Settings for Groups and Machines

You can specify option settings for all machines, groups of machines, and individual machines. Option settings are inherited as you move down the hierarchy. For example:

You can change option settings for a machine or group to override default or inherited settings. When you change an option setting from the default or its inherited value, that option is highlighted.

To specify option settings:

  1. Click the object to modify (for example, Global Settings, a group, or a machine).

  2. On the tabs to the right, specify the option settings.

    Serial Numbers
     

    Enter serial numbers for the various products to install.

    Specify the port and server for a SolidWorks Network License (SNL) Server. For details, see Network License Overview.
     

    Client Options
     

    Create a new installation or to upgrade the most recent existing installation.

    Specify the installation directory on the client machine.

    Use the default SolidWorks user interface settings (keyboard shortcuts, menu customization, toolbar layout, and so on) or use settings saved from another installation using the Copy Settings Wizard.

    Choose whether to participate in the SolidWorks Customer Experience Program.

    Automatically activate client installations. For details, see License Activation.

    Create a diagnostic log during installation.

    Run the installation as a different user (for example, if administrative permission is required for installation).

    Run external programs before or after the installation.
     

    Software to Install
     

    Specify the product components to install.

    Standard Libraries
     

    Use existing standard Toolbox library files or install new library files.

  3. Close the Option Editor to apply changes in the option settings.

To Revert Option Settings to the Inherited Values:

  1. Right-click a group or machine.

  2. Click Revert to Global Settings (for a group or a machine that is not a group member) or Revert to Group Settings (for a machine that is a group member).
