Documentation

What’s New in SolidWorks 2015

The What’s New manual for SolidWorks 2015 is included in the SolidWorks 2014 SP5 release at: install_dir\language\manuals\WhatsNew_SW2015.pdf.

What's New Book - Drawing Views

The Drawings and Detailing chapter of the What’s New book should contain an item for drawing view rotation angles. You can display drawing view rotation angles by typing the tag <ViewAngle> in a note.

Service Pack 5.0

Mates

There is a new error message for mates with missing references in assemblies. Click Tools > Options > Messages/Errors/Warnings and select Treat missing mate references as errors to display mates with missing references as errors.

Service Pack 4.0

There are no items specific to this service pack.

Service Pack 3.0

Derived Parts

When you create a derived part that is linked to the base part, the Description property of the derived part’s cut list uses the same evaluated value as the base part. The derived part’s units and dimensions are disregarded.

Copy with Mates

Previously, when using Copy with Mates in assemblies, if you used the Repeat option, at least one mate had to use a different reference than the original instance. Now, you can use the Repeat option for all mates without that requirement.

Service Pack 2.0

Optimize Spacing for Touch

The option to enlarge user interface elements such as menus, buttons, and trees for easier touch interaction has changed. Click Tools > Customize. On the Toolbars tab, under Options, select or clear Optimize spacing for touch. This option replaces the large icon size button.

Service Pack 1.0

Sheet Metal Corner Relief Changes

For Rectangular and Circular relief types, changes in the Corner Relief algorithm now extend flange edges and place rectangular and circular cutouts at the intersection of the extended edges. As a result, the Narrow Corner option has been removed.

If the flange edge extension does not remove enough overlapping material in the bend state, the software makes an extra relief cut to remove the material. If you clear Show Slit in the Flat-Pattern PropertyManager when you flatten the pattern, the software removes the extra relief cut.
