This document provides general information about Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks® Corporation releases.

SOLIDWORKS 2015, including SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM 2015, is the last release that supports Microsoft Windows 8.0. SOLIDWORKS 2016 and SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM 2016 will not install on the Microsoft Windows 8.0 operating system. You must upgrade from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1 to continue using SOLIDWORKS 2016 and SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM 2016.
SOLIDWORKS 2014, including the SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM 2014 CAD Editor, was the last release that supported the Windows 7 32-bit operating system. SOLIDWORKS 2015 and the SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM 2015 CAD Editor will not install on 32-bit operating systems. SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM 2015 is the last release that will support Enterprise PDM Contributor and Viewer clients on the Windows 7 32-bit operating system.
The SOLIDWORKS 2015 and Enterprise PDM 2015 server products, including the Network License Server, will not install on Windows® XP, Windows Vista®, and Windows Server® 2003 and 2008 operating systems.
SOLIDWORKS 2014 and later will not run with a parallel-port licensing dongle.
SOLIDWORKS 2014, including SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM 2014, is the last release that supports Microsoft Office 2007. SOLIDWORKS 2015 and SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM 2015 do not support Microsoft Office 2007.

SOLIDWORKS Viewer is replaced by eDrawings® Viewer 2015, starting with the SOLIDWORKS 2015 release. eDrawings Viewer 2015 is available on 64-bit operating systems only. For current supported operating systems, see System Requirements. The SOLIDWORKS 2014 Viewer will remain available for download, but will not open SOLIDWORKS 2015 and later models.
SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM is no longer localized into Swedish.
SOLIDWORKS 2015 is the last release to support COSMOSM. After the release of SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP5, COSMOSM will no longer be enhanced or supported.
As of SOLIDWORKS 2015, you cannot save a model as Universal 3D file format. The
is removed.Direct integration between ScanTo3D and NextEngine scanning software (ScanStudio) is no longer included in SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP3 and future releases. The NextEngine file types nzip, nxm, and scn can no longer be opened and has been removed. Alternatively, NextEngine scanner users can generate scan files in other scan file formats and import them into SOLIDWORKS.
SOLIDWORKS 2015 is distributed on two DVDs. The Installation Manager will prompt you to insert SOLIDWORKS Disk #2, if needed.
Some antivirus software prevents proper installation of SOLIDWORKS. For additional information, see Antivirus.
You can no longer install COSMOSM from the DVDs or using the Installation Manager. You must download COSMOSM from the Downloads area of the Web site.
Some fonts that shipped in prior versions of Windows have moved into optional features in Windows 10. When upgrading to Windows 10, these fonts may not be installed on your system. If you find that a SOLIDWORKS document uses a font that is no longer installed on your computer, refer to Microsoft Knowledge base article 3083806.
If you use Windows® 7 64-bit version, you should install Microsoft Hotfix KB 983396 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/983396. This fixes problems when trying to embed Microsoft® Office 97-2003 Compatible Format documents into SOLIDWORKS documents. This applies to all installed versions of Microsoft Office.

SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM 2015 supports SOLIDWORKS 2015, 2014, and 2013. The combination of a newer version of SOLIDWORKS and an older version of Enterprise PDM is not supported.
When you place a diameter dimension in a crop or detail view on a feature that extends beyond the view and you place the dimension beyond the displayed model geometry, the dimension includes an extension line.
Add-Ins
Third-party add-ins accessed from the Menu Bar in previous versions of SOLIDWORKS are also now accessed from the Tools menu. Additionally, any new third-party add-in that attempts to create a menu on the Menu Bar will now appear on the Tools menu.

The Office Products CommandManager tab is renamed to SOLIDWORKS Add-Ins.
In previous releases, the SOLIDWORKS software converted some imported circular or elliptical edges into sketch geometry as splines. These now import as circles, arcs, or ellipses.
The Overview window is not available.
You cannot use SOLIDWORKS Explorer to identify the last version used to save your SOLIDWORKS files. The SW Last Saved with property is not supported in SOLIDWORKS Explorer. Use Windows Explorer to identify the SOLIDWORKS version you used to save your files by right-clicking the file in Windows Explorer, selecting Properties, and clicking the Details tab.
When the first and last selections are planar faces and the geometry between them is symmetrical, the resulting full-round fillet is symmetrical, even if the faces are drafted.
You can add variable size fillets to nonplanar closed edges and closed spline edges.
In assembly documents, items in the FeatureManager design tree may be incorrectly ordered due to an issue identified in SOLIDWORKS 2014. This issue is fixed in SOLIDWORKS 2014 SP05 and SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP01, and many cases are automatically repaired upon loading the affected files.
The functionality described in the Identify File Version topic in the SOLIDWORKS Fundamentals section is not available in SOLIDWORKS 2015.
The Time-depended Analysis and Advanced Solver Control features that are documented in What’s New SOLIDWORKS 2015 are not included in the SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation 2015 product release.
CircuitWorks is available in SOLIDWORKS Premium and SOLIDWORKS Professional. Previously it was available in SOLIDWORKS Premium only.
If you use the option, Round half to even, in , the dimensions that appear in the graphics area are incorrect. However, the actual dimensions in the model are correct. Only the dimension display is incorrect.
It is recommended that you only use Round half to even on individual dimensions where the rounding method is needed, instead of setting it in the Options dialog box. You can do this in the Dimension PropertyManager on the Other tab. Under Override Units, clear Use document method and select Round Half to Even in the list.
SOLIDWORKS Composer help is now available in English, Italian, Korean, Russian, French, German, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.

The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engine uses dictionaries to extract and interpret information from PDF or TIFF files. The 13 new dictionaries added to SOLIDWORKS Inspection lets you extract notes written in those languages. |

The SOLIDWORKS Electrical documentation is now available in all languages including English, Czech, Italian, Korean, Polish, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese, and Spanish.
SOLIDWORKS Composer supports batch output of vector images. Also, when creating views, you can define a template for view names.
The SOLIDWORKS Composer user interface is now localized into Traditional Chinese as well as French, Italian, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Russian. The documentation is currently available in English, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Russian.
