IMPORTANT - End of Life Announcements

Microsoft Windows 8.0

All SOLIDWORKS 2016 products will not install on Windows 8.0. You must upgrade from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1. For current supported operating systems, see System Requirements.

32-Bit Operating Systems

eDrawings 2015 was the last release that supported the Windows 7 32-bit operating system. eDrawings 2016 products will not install on the Windows 7 32-bit operating system.

SOLIDWORKS 2016 includes support for the Windows 10 64-bit operating system for all SOLIDWORKS products.

Windows 10 SOLIDWORKS Supported Editions:

Windows 10 Pro (64-bit only)
Windows 10 Enterprise (64-bit only)

For optimum performance and stability, see Video Card Requirements. Recommended graphics cards and drivers are flagged with the gold RealView icon.

You must accept the End-User License Agreements for every service pack upgrade for every product.

Functionality

3D Views

3D Views are available in part documents only.

Annotations

The eDrawings Viewer does not support the option Always display text at the same size for SOLIDWORKS documents (in SOLIDWORKS, select the Options tool, and then select Detailing for the Document Properties tab). Annotation text scaling is supported for eDrawings part and assembly files published from SOLIDWORKS. Only 1:1 text scaling is supported for SOLIDWORKS part and assembly files opened in eDrawings.

Overview Window

The Overview window is now available.

eDrawings Measure

Measure is disabled for non-draft quality broken views.

Radial Explodes

Radial explodes are available for eDrawings assemblies (.easm) only.

Service Pack 5.0

There are no SP 5.0-specific issues at this time.

Service Pack 4.0

Measure Tool

The Measure tool is now available in the free eDrawings version. Previously it was only available in eDrawings Professional.

Service Pack 3.0

Saving as .HTML Files

When saving an eDrawings file as .html:

You may need to change Internet Explorer (IE) settings for the eDrawings ActiveX control to properly load. For help on setting ActiveX controls in IE, see the Microsoft online help.
You may need to select Enable Protected Mode in IE options. You must reboot your system after selecting this option.
There is a known Microsoft issue that prevents ActiveX from working on Windows 10.

Service Pack 2.0

ActiveX Control

If you use the eDrawings 64-bit version, you can use eDrawings ActiveX control. If you try to open .html files in eDrawings and the files do not open, use the eDrawings 64-bit version and install eDrawings 64-bit ActiveX.
