Upgrading Network Licenses

Upgrade a network license:

Major releases. Uninstall the old SNL Manager and install the new one. An SNL for a newer release can distribute licenses for clients remaining at the previous release as well.

Non-subscription customers: Upgrade the license file, but not the SNL Manager (see below).

Before upgrading the SNL Manager, confirm:

To upgrade the SNL Manager on a license server:

  1. In Windows, click Start, All Programs, SolidWorks SolidNetWork License Manager, SolidNetWork License Administrator.

  2. On the Server Administration tab, under License Server, click Stop, then click OK.

  3. In Windows, open the Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs.

  4. Select SolidWorks SolidNetWork License Manager, click Remove, and confirm the deletion.

  5. In Windows Explorer, delete the SolidWorks SolidNetWork License Manager folder.

  6. Install the new SNL Manager as described in License Server Installation.

To upgrade the SNL Manager on an application server:

  1. Complete the steps above.

  2. Install the new SolidWorks service pack.

To upgrade the license file without upgrading the SNL Manager:

  1. In Windows, click Start, All Programs, SolidWorks SolidNetWork License Manager, SolidNetWork License Administrator.

  2. On the Server Administration tab, under License Server, click Stop.

  3. Under License File, click Modify, then click Next until you reach the Licenses box.

  4. In the Licenses box, click Read.

Remove old or expired licenses.

  1. In the Read Licenses dialog box, click Browse, locate the new SNL File, then click OK.

  2. In the SolidNetWork License File Wizard dialog box, select Reread license file (after Finish), then click Finish.

  3. In the SolidNetWork License Administrator dialog box, under License Server, click Start, then click OK.

  4. Install the new SolidWorks service pack.
