For major releases of SolidWorks, uninstall the old SNL Manager and install the new one. An SNL for a newer release can distribute licenses for clients remaining at the previous release as well.
Non-subscription customers can upgrade the
license file without upgrading the SNL Manager. See Obtaining
a License File.
Before upgrading the SNL Manager, confirm:
Receipt of a new SNL file before the current license expires.
No clients are running SolidWorks. In Windows, click Start, All Programs, SolidWorks <version>, SolidWorks SolidNetWork License Manager, SolidNetWork License Administrator. The License Usage tab shows clients running SolidWorks.
To upgrade the SolidNetWork License Manager, do the following:
Uninstall the old SNL Manager as described below.
To uninstall the old SNL Manager:
In Windows, click Start, All Programs, SolidWorks <version>, SolidWorks SolidNetWork License Manager, SolidNetWork License Administrator.
On the Server Administration tab, under License Server, click Stop, then click OK.
In Windows, open the Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs.
Select SolidWorks SolidNetWork License Manager, click Remove, and confirm the deletion.
In Windows Explorer, delete the SolidWorks SolidNetWork License Manager folder
Install the new SNL Manager as described in License Server Installation.
To upgrade the SNL Manager on an application server:
Complete the steps above.
Install the new SolidWorks service pack.
